My mother’s teeth have yellowed since having the 6 month smiles treatment, should she speak to her dentist?

October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi. could you please help me. My mum has just had 6 month smiles. she had a ceramic brace on the front of her teeth. to be fair the treatment worked both fine and quickly, I personally am impressd with the results she got and am considering it myself now. the issue she’s having is that her teeth were never really a bright white but they’v got slightly more yellow. despite me being adamant they’re still OK so long as her gums are she want them whitened. this is what I need help with, I have told her to return to the dentists where the treatment was done and have it done there as their work has already been proven with the brace. she however is insisting on trying to save money and has seen an offer at a place that offers a few ‘beauty treatments’ (I wouldn’t say a beauty salon but If i did you’d know the type of place i mean). could you please advise on the fact that if its that cheap there’s a reason! Im not a fan of these places myself. thanks

I stood on my aligner and cracked it. Will I need to pay for a replacement aligner? What should I do?

October 29th, 2012
Q.

Hello. I’m really worried about my invisalign aligner. A piece at the back of the aligner has snapped off. It was my own stupid fault, I took the aligner off the clean my teeth and it fell on the floor then I stood on it. I don’t know what to do I’m scared that my dentist will just go off on one because he’s not the most patient of people I’ve ever met, he’s very blunt. Will I have to pay for a new aligner to be made? I was due to have my aligner changed next week anyway but obviously I’ll miss out on a weeks worth of treatment. What should I do? Thanks!

Do the attachments found on lingual braces remain completely hidden?

October 2nd, 2012
Q.

Hi, after doing a lot of research on the web to determine if I think i’m suitable for invisalign i feel that i should be okay for it and that it probably is the best option for me in regards to how discreet it is. i wondered if you could send me some actual photos of a user with invisalign rather than the images i’ve seen on the internet that don’t look very real. i’m considering lingual braces because they’re completely behind the teeth aren’t they? do lingual brace attachments remain completely hidden? thanks for your time, i’m just looking fir a rough idea before i attend my consultation on friday.

Would Lingual braces treatment work for me?

September 26th, 2012
Q.

Hi I am currently enrolled into drama school, I am due to start in 2 weeks. My top row of teeth (particularly the canines) protrude quite significantly and I feel this will hinder my career as an actor. I am looking into receiving braces that will have the bare minimum impact upon my speech (for obvious reasons). What are your thoughts on lingual braces treating a case like mine? How long on average does treatment take and would they affect my speech for long? Thank you in advance.

Is there a brace available that can reduce the appearence of my overbite?

September 14th, 2012
Q.

Hi, dr i was wondering if you could help me? I am 17 and i have a really bad overbite. Is there any way i can have a brace that would make the overbite not stick out as much? i really do not want to have any surgery the thought of it really scares me, i am just looking into some other options before i discuss it with my dentist/doctor. i am scared about what they’re going to say so i would just like a sort of an opinion. have you been across anyone with bad overbites and managed to fix them up, quickly? i feel that it is affecting my time in college now. thank you.

What is the difference between Incognito braces and Invisalign?

September 7th, 2012
Q.

hi can you tell me the difference between incognito and invisalign? i’m trying to do a bit of research on the discreet braces as i’m in full time employment right now and don’t fancy everyone knowing that i have braces. in terms of comfort which is better in your opinion? my friend had braces and suffered a lot of problems with them and couldn’t speak very well for a while. as my job involves speaking to customers i can’t afford to be speaking bad! cheers, sandy.

The pain from invisalign aligners isn’t subsiding, should I be worried?

August 24th, 2012
Q.

Hello there, I just wondered if you could help me out with something? I’m experiencing great pain, particularly in my front teeth and I’ve been using the invisalign treatment for around 5 weeks now. My orthodontist said it’s normal to experience pain and I did at first but then it subsided but honestly, it’s really painful and even the painkillers don’t seem to be making that much difference! Should I be worried about this? I understand it’s good that there’s a little bit of pain because then I know the treatment is working but I can’t cope with it much longer. Thanks for your time!

I have a very low pain threshold, how much pain am I likely to experience when receiving lingual braces?

August 24th, 2012
Q.

Hello, I have a very, very low pain threshold and even the slightest nip is really painful to me. I am looking into receiving lingual braces, removable ones preferably in case the pain is too much. Can you tell me how much pain I am likely to experience from lingual braces? Have you ever had any patients that suffer from the same problem? If so how did they manage the discomfort? Thank you in advance.

Are my crooked teeth ‘hiding’ bacteria?

June 29th, 2012
Q.

hello Mr Patel. i have been suffering from problems with my teeth for a while now and i think it could give me gum disease. I have been looking online at things that say that crooked teeth can hide bacteria that you cant get at when brushing. if this is the case then I am in a rush. I am twenty and i have had crooked teeth for nearly eighteen years. If this is causing some damage that I can’t see and I need to fix it. which brace gets teeth straight whist still being able to brush/ maintain health? what would you recommend ? thank you very much for your time.
