Can You Get Damon Lingual Braces?

September 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Qureshi. I really want braces to fix my crooked teeth, but am struggling to decide which ones to go for! I’ve made a list of my favourites and do intend to visit a dentist for a consultation to find out which kind of brace really would be best for me but I’d just like to get some information from you first. I really like the look of Damon braces, and have heard good things about them. Ideally I’d like my braces to be as discreet as possible, would I be able to get Damon ones fitted to the back of my teeth? Or is it only STb and Incognito braces that can go on the back? Please help!

I Broke My Lingual Braces Through Tooth-Grinding. What Should I Do?

August 7th, 2014
Q.

Hi Saba. I’m currently wearing lingual braces but unfortunately I grind my teeth in the night and have broken the brackets after just 4 weeks! Obviously I haven’t broken them on purpose and I’m scared of what my orthodontist will say. I haven’t told anyone that I grind my teeth because I didn’t want to be told I couldn’t have braces but now it’s obviously a problem because I’ve broken them. What should I do and will I have to pay for new ones?

Which Type of Lingual Brace is Right for Me?

July 29th, 2014
Q.

Hello, I’m looking at braces but don’t know which ones are right for me. I actually didn’t know there were so many different types of lingual brace! Obviously it’s great to have a selection but I’m starting to get confused between all the different kinds. I have two quite big gaps between my teeth and some of the teeth at the front are a bit crooked, but apart from that they’re quite straight – not a complete mess! I want to start saving for braces so I’d just like to know which you think would be best for me?

Are My Lingual Braces Broken?

July 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hi there, I’m having a problem with my lingual braces. The brace feels loose at the back of my teeth, and it didn’t before. Does that fact that it’s loose mean that it’s not working? I’ve got an appointment with my orthodontist in 2 weeks anyway for them to be adjusted but I just would like to know in the meantime because I’m worried. They cost a lot of money and I don’t want to have to spend loads more. The wires are loose so it feels like it’s moving in my mouth. Thanks for any help you can give me.

What’s the Best Treatment for Fixing a Gap Between Teeth?

June 5th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I have just turned 22 and recently I’ve noticed that there’s a gap between two of my teeth at the front. Well, I say noticed, it has always been there but it seems to have gotten bigger and I’m not imagining things, my boyfriend has noticed it too. Is there a treatment that will fix the gap? It’s knocked my confidence quite a lot you see. I understand that it won’t close overnight with any brace, but I’d prefer quick treatment, especially if the braces are ugly! Thanks.

What’s The Difference Between Lingual Braces And Invisalign?

May 6th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr. Qureshi, I wondered if you could help me. I have had terrible teeth for many years, they are crooked and horrible to look at and have decided to get braces to straighten them out. I’ve been looking at lingual braces and also at Invisalign, what’s the difference? I know a few celebrities have used Invisalign so it intrigued me, however I do like the sound of lingual braces. Which would be best for me? Thank you.

Can I Have Lingual Braces Before My Maxillofacial Surgery Instead Of Fixed Braces?

March 10th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Qureshi. I hope you can help me with my question as I would like clarity on my subject. I have had Maxillofacial surgery about 9 years 8 years ago, I am 28 now and am having to go through the treatment again as I have a bad bite, so my jaw is still slightly to one side, and the bite is not correct. I hate having to have braces again but I wanted to ask; can the orthodontist use lingual braces instead of the regular ones before the surgery, as I do not like the idea of having braces on the front of my teeth again? Many thanks. I thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing your reply.

I Don’t Know Which Procedure Would Be Right For Me? I Have A Gummy Smile And I Would Like This Fixed.

February 10th, 2014
Q.

Hi, I have always disliked my teeth and I have been looking into cosmetic dentisty for a while. The problem I have is that I don’t know procedure it is that I require. My dentist doesn’t undertake cosmetic work but did inform me to look into lingual braces if I wasn’t happy. My top right teeth stick out slightly more than my top left teeth especially the front right tooth and the one next to it. I also have a ‘gummy smile’ which I hate. Not sure if anything can be done about my bottom teeth but when I was younger my dentist removed one of the bottom four smaller teeth, where you should have 4 smaller teeth on the bottom I have three one which is the size of two. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are Traditional Fixed Braces A Better Way Of Obtaining The Hollywood Smile Or Do Lingual Braces Work Just As Well?

January 27th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi, I have 6 months smile braces on my teeth. I would like to know if I had the lingual braces, would I get a nicer looking smile? I want the “hollywood” smile. I also do not have any problems with my bite. I don’t feel any pressure or pain, so I feel like the teeth are not really moving much. I sometimes feel if I had the traditional braces I would end up with a better looking smile, is this true? I have the impression traditional braces are more stronger and do a better job, because they cause more pain and I have seen people after they have them and their smile is really beautiful. Thank you for your time.

Would I Develop A Lisp If I Were To Get A Lingual Brace?

January 13th, 2014
Q.

Please advise as to the following:
1. I understand that lingual braces can cause a speech defect eg, lisp and that this improves with time and practice. However does it disappear completely during the treatment and on average how long does this take?

2. After removal of the lingual brace does speech return to normal or is lisping defect permanent? Is there any chance that after removal speech will not return back to normal?

3. Is this treatment available outside of the UK?

Please advise me on the above questions.
