Can You Get Damon Lingual Braces?

September 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Qureshi. I really want braces to fix my crooked teeth, but am struggling to decide which ones to go for! I’ve made a list of my favourites and do intend to visit a dentist for a consultation to find out which kind of brace really would be best for me but I’d just like to get some information from you first. I really like the look of Damon braces, and have heard good things about them. Ideally I’d like my braces to be as discreet as possible, would I be able to get Damon ones fitted to the back of my teeth? Or is it only STb and Incognito braces that can go on the back? Please help!

Will Lingual Braces Chip My Dental Crown?

August 28th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hutchinson. I have a porcelain crown on one of my top teeth as the result of an accident I had 3 months ago. My teeth have always been a bit crooked, especially my bottom ones, and I’m looking into lingual braces as a solution. I’m worried that the brace will damage my crown, will this happen? I haven’t had it more than 2 months. Will the braces chip away at the back of my crown? If this is the case can you suggest a good alternative for me? Thanks.

My Teeth Are Very Sensitive Now I’m Wearing Braces. Is This Normal?

August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Qureshi, I’m really hoping you can help me. I got braces just less than 4 months ago and now my teeth have gotten very sensitive. It’s mostly to cold things, like cold drinks and food like yoghurts that have been in the fridge. Sometimes if it’s cold outside the air actually affects my teeth and they feel sensitive even then! Is this normal, and what can be done about it? It really is a nuisance, and it’s very uncomfortable at times.

Will I Have to Have Teeth Removed to Get Braces?

August 19th, 2014
Q.

Hi Ian. My teeth on both the top and bottom are very, very crowded and I’ve never had braces before. I wish I’d had them as a teenager but now I’m 24 so obviously can’t get them through the NHS. I really don’t like my teeth so I’m looking for a good brace system that will sort out the crowding. I think I might have to have some teeth removed to have treatment, but is there any brace that would avoid having to do this? I’m worried that I won’t be able to pay for all this treatment. Thank you.

How Much Would it Cost to Fix an Overbite and Close a Gap Between My Teeth?

August 15th, 2014
Q.

Hi there!
I’m 28 years old and have a pretty big gap between my two front teeth, which bothers me more than my overbite. Obviously it would be ideal to get both sorted BUT my main concern is the gap because it’s so obvious. I’ve been looking at veneers but would the overbite prevent me from being able to have them? My dentist thinks braces would be better than veneers, but I thought I’d get a second opinion from your good self. How much would the quickest option cost? Thank you!

Should I Have to Pay for Braces?

August 12th, 2014
Q.

Hi Doctor. My teeth are very very crooked and I’m desperate to get them straightened. I like the idea of lingual braces because I’m still at school so nobody would be able to see them. But my orthodontist has told me I’m going to have to pay nearly £2000 even though I’m in full-time education, but neither me or my parents can afford this. He said it’s because it’s classed as cosmetic surgery, but my dentist has been promising braces since I was 8 and in primary school. Should I have to pay for braces?

I Broke My Lingual Braces Through Tooth-Grinding. What Should I Do?

August 7th, 2014
Q.

Hi Saba. I’m currently wearing lingual braces but unfortunately I grind my teeth in the night and have broken the brackets after just 4 weeks! Obviously I haven’t broken them on purpose and I’m scared of what my orthodontist will say. I haven’t told anyone that I grind my teeth because I didn’t want to be told I couldn’t have braces but now it’s obviously a problem because I’ve broken them. What should I do and will I have to pay for new ones?

Why Do I Still Have an Overbite?

August 4th, 2014
Q.

Hi there Dr Hutchinson. Recently I had Invisalign to sort out my overbite and crooked teeth. However since I finished the treatment which took 18 months, I’ve noticed that my overbite is as bad as it always has been, if not worse than it was before! My teeth are definitely straighter but they don’t meet the way they should do and I feel as though my overbite is very noticeable. What should I do? I’ve paid a lot of money and don’t want to spend any more but I’m certainly not happy. My orthodontist seems to think this is normal.

Which Type of Lingual Brace is Right for Me?

July 29th, 2014
Q.

Hello, I’m looking at braces but don’t know which ones are right for me. I actually didn’t know there were so many different types of lingual brace! Obviously it’s great to have a selection but I’m starting to get confused between all the different kinds. I have two quite big gaps between my teeth and some of the teeth at the front are a bit crooked, but apart from that they’re quite straight – not a complete mess! I want to start saving for braces so I’d just like to know which you think would be best for me?

How Much Does Social 6 Treatment Cost?

July 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi Ian. I’d just like to know about the prices of lingual braces. My teeth are actually pretty straight and are in good condition but 5 teeth at the front are crooked and I feel they ruin my smile. There’s a big gap between my front two teeth and it gives me confidence problem. I don’t want to pay a lot of money to treat teeth that don’t need to be treated. How much would it cost if I only wanted to focus on the ones at the front? Thank you.
