I have two very crooked front teeth, will lingual braces fix them?

June 29th, 2012
Q.

Hello there, i wondered if you could help me? I have long considered getting braces for my crooked front teeth. There is not a lot of teeth that are crooked mainly just the two at the front which are not straight and this can sometimes have a very negative effect on how I am feeling on any given day. I would like to know what is the effectiveness of lingual braces in such a case and if it would be a suitable option for myself? Is there any other braces option you feel would be better?

Which brace would be best in terms of comfort and a short timescale?

Dear Mr Patel I had orthodontist treatment as a kid when I was 11-15 so my teeth are straight to look at but my top teeth are pushed back too much so I cant close my mouth properly and my teeth are wearing out. In last few years my teeth feel uncomfortable as if there is nt enough room for my tongue. I would like a brace that can push them forward so I have a nice smile as you can’t really see my top teeth when I smile due to their angle. Also since I turned 40 my top jaw muscles ache all the time and I feel like my mouth doesnt have any support as the teeth are so far back. Please can you advise what brace is best in terms of speed, comfort and quick timescale? thanks

I have severely crowded teeth, does this mean I can’t have braces?

Q.

Hi. Dear expert could you please aid me. I have had long running problems with crooked teeth and oral hygiene. because my bottom teeth are so crooked I cannot get even flossets between them to floss which means I have to spend extra time brushing, guessing whether or not they are OK. I have now had enough and want braces but I don’t want the ones on the front. my concern though is that the ones on the back of the teeth won’t be suitable for me as some teeth are nearly behind others they are that crossed, in this scenario what would you do? thanks

Is there a way I can minimise the number of appointments needed when receiving lingual braces?

Q.

Hello Mr. please could you tell me about these lingual braces? my dentist mentioned them the other day. he suggested that I have braces and I got a bit upset as I really don’t like them. I am not comfortable at the dentist so after managing to stick to a consistent appointment routine/plan it was a bit of a kick in the face to hear that. he then obviously said that I had a lot of options and that a lingual brace could be one. are there different form of lingual brace ? I want to have a quick method to minimise the amount of appointment I’ll have to be in you see. please could you advise me? thanks

I have overlapping teeth and my only option seems to be intercepting braces. Can you advise?

Q.

Hi Saba. I am thirteen and my teeth have started to move to a point whereby they have overlapped slightly. My dentist and orthodontist have told me they can use intercepting braces to treat the problem now before it gets worse. They didn’t give me a time as to how long it would take because it’s different. I think he’s just trying to get me in braces quicker because that’s what a lot of them are doing. what are your thoughts on intercepting?

I want the best brace possible whether it be on the front or the back?

May 14th, 2012
Q.

Dear expert. I don’t know how this works but If you could take the time out to read my question i would be most grateful. I want to have a brace but I don’t know anything about them, I’ve read up on them on here and indeed on your site. I am 90% sure I want incognito. for a few reasons one being that it is on the back of teeth, two I’ve heard really good things about it from my dentist and three because it looks cool!! I’d be 100% on it but my orthodontist is trying to get me to have a Damon brace? he says either will be good for me but this to me looks like a normal brace but a bit more sleek? would this be better than incognito or would you say have that?

How do lingual braces move teeth, I understand how conventional one’s do?

Q.

Hello. Dr Saba Qureshi could you please help me on braces. I have a few queries in about them but I shall minimize this as best possible. I want to have braces on the back of my teeth so nobody sees them but I don’t understand how they work. how do they pull teeth? the convex arc around the outside of teeth with normal braces surely means that it’s easier to pull teeth (due to this natural arc shape) but on the inside, how do they pull tight without pulling your teeth inwards (towards the tongue)? I am a little perplexed and it’s stopping me getting the brace. thank you for your efforts Dr I know I am awkward!!

I don’t mind having a brace but do I have to have one of those on the front of my teeth?

April 24th, 2012
Q.

Hi Mr Patel I have been told that I will need to have braces. I don’t mind and actually quite want to have them in order to straighten my teeth. If I can help it though I don’t want the ones on the front of the teeth as I don’t like these. I learned of the lingual braces and the different types of linguals I could get. I was wondering how long it would take to have lingual braces put on? I like the look of the incognito brace, is the better and would it take longer to put on or not? thanks

Is there a difference between the clear, removable aligner types?

April 20th, 2012
Q.

Hello expert S.Qureshi. I have been looking at straightening my teeth which are slightly crooked. My dentist said I was a good candidate for invisalign and that I should take extra time to do some research on this when I went home. I did this then found the clearstep and simpli5 treatments online. To me they all look the same but as of the other day so did all braces! is there a difference in these treatment techniques or are all they all the same? I want the most discreet treatment and thought this was it.

At 13 could I have two social six braces, one on each jaw?

April 17th, 2012
Q.

Hello dear expert. I am 13 and my teeth have done my head in for aages now. my bottom teeth are crooked, this is not the most serious issue but it needs addressing. the bigger problem is that my jaw seems to line up with the top jaw almost. the top row is only just in front of my lower teeth, coupled with the fact my lower teeth aren’t level means that one of the upper middle teeth has moved slightly to accommodate the crooked one that now sits where it used to. Could I have two social six treatments (one on each row) or would the treatment be more extensive? thanks I know it is difficult without seeing me
