What is the best brace to improve my chances of getting an acting role?

November 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello and please advise. I’m studying to become a trained actor and i’ve been advised by my agent to enquire about braces because my top set of teeth are very spaced and one of my canines protrude quite a bit. He thinks that if i have dental braces it’ll improve my chances of doing well in auditions/receiving more auditions etc. as you would expect really. I need something quick and discreet and something that does not affect my speech in ANY way, any recommendations? thanks!

Can you get dental braces if you have a few missing teeth?

November 26th, 2012
Q.

Hi can you tell me which would be the best brace for me in my specific situation? i have an overbite (it isn’t that bad however) and i also have two missing teeth at the back of my mouth(at the bottom) and one back tooth missing at the top to round off the problems. I just want a general idea from a dental professional like yourself, can you still wear braces if you have a few missing teeth? thanks!

Will any of the past dental work I’ve had affect my suitability for lingual braces?

November 22nd, 2012
Q.

I am in a bit of confusion over my teeth. I have had a lot of treatments to my teeth in the past and was wondering if this woud stop me getting lingual braces in anyway. I had root canal treatment done on two teeth on the right hand side of my mouth on the bottom set of teeth. I have had these filled along with t double tooth on the top right, I am 30 now but when I was seventeen I had treatment to cure an over shot as my bottom teeth extruded farther than my top and were overlapped. I didnt keep to my retainer though so my teeth are now crooked. this is my fault and i want to put it right. Is there any reasons from what you can read here that would stop me having a brace behind my teeth? thank you

Would getting a retainer make up for the relapse of my teeth after wearing braces?

November 22nd, 2012
Q.

Hello, I had fixed braces as a teen (the horrible train-track type) and failed to use my retainer properly in later years. I feel my teeth have relapsed but not severely, they still look quite straight there’s just 2 on the front at the top that are protruding slightly. Do you think I’d be suitable for 6 month smiles? OR could I just get a new retainer from my ortho in the mean time (till I can afford new braces)? what do you think?

Are there any major differences between traditional braces and lingual braces?

November 22nd, 2012
Q.

i am 20 I have overlapped teeth, nothing major just overlapped the issue i now face is that my teeth i dont think are ready for braces. i have slight concaves in some of my my teeth, is this normal, is it a problem or could it be full stop? secondly could it stop me having braces and fixing my gap teeth. then, if i have a brace- being over 16 and needing to pay for it myself how much would it cost and how big is the difference between traditional braces and lingual in terms of finance is it actually that huge? also, sorry, are lingual braces quicker or better in any way (other than them being hidden) that i dont know of?

Do any discreet braces come as part of a finance scheme to spread the cost?

November 7th, 2012
Q.

Hello… I’m looking for a cost-effective brace as I am in a part time job that doesn’t pay that well. I’m looking for a discreet brace but do any of them come with finance schemes that can help me spread the cost of payments. If you had to recommend one based on the most cost effective which would you choose? Thanks a lot!

Would the gummy look of my smile be treatable by braces?

November 2nd, 2012
Q.

My teeth aren’t misaligned as such, but my gum line is quite strange so my teeth look shorter at the front and quite large at the back, I think it is due to the shape of my teeth as the ones at the back sort of go in then they push further out at the front. They appear straight, they just make my smile look quite gummy so would you think this would require a brace? I’m not sure, just looking into it before I go ahead and start booking consultations etc as it’s really getting to me now, especially when I look back through old photos. Thanks in advance.

Can I get Damon braces that are fitted to the back of the teeth?

October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi. I have looked at a few braces and am torn as to which one to have I like the look of a few and have drawn up a shortlist on my own. I do intend to take it to the dentist and see what he thinks of it and which methods are best but I though I’d try and get some background on each first. I like the look of the damon brace and have read a lot of good reviews about it. is it possible to have the damon brace on the back of teeth? i like the idea of a lingual brace but have seen good things of the damon. however the damon is always on the front of the teeth and i wondered if this was for a reason or whether it was just easier/cheaper to do this. could you please help me with this and to expand, is it only the stb and incognito brace that you can have on the back of teeth? thanks

How much would it cost me to have full mouth Incognito braces?

October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hello my apologies if this is brief/not enough detail but I need some advice. I am no longer able to get braces free on NHS so I figured I’d get some smart braces if I was going to be paying for it anyway. I have overlapped teeth slightly and wanted incognito braces but I here how expensive they are and that brackets are x amount each. How much apprximately would a full mouth cost to fit with this system? I am convinced it would work as my teeth are not abnormal just have crossed a bit? thank you

Should my daughter receive traditional braces through the NHS or Damon braces privately?

October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi there, I have been to the ortodontist today with my 8 year old daughter. She has a class 3 crossbite. She will need treatment and were given the choice of payying privately now for damon braces or waiting until she is older and having NHS treatment with traditional braces. I don’t know which is going to give her the best result and the orthodontist can’t advise me. If damon braces are generally a shorter treatment time therefore less costs labour wise, less painful and with fewer extractions how come they aren’t available on the NHS? Which treatment path would you recommend? Thanks
