Will lingual braces take longer than regular braces to straighten teeth?

February 6th, 2013
Q.

Can you please help me with my situation dr patel. If I have a lingual brace will it take longer to have the treatment than getting the standard kind of equipment for this at the dentist. I know that when you have a brace on the front f your teeth it pulls the teeth apart. I can see how it would do this but I don’t understand how a lingual brace can physically pull teeth apart and if it can I don’t see how it would do it so quickly? thanks for your time and I hope you can answer me.

I have broken the brackets of my STb lingual braces because I grind my teeth. What should I do?

January 29th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I was given my STB lingual braces only five days ago and I’ve managed to break the brackets already. The thing is I grind my teeth a lot, but it’s not like I do it on purpose obviously, and it’s even worse when I’m sleeping. I didn’t mention anything because number one) I thought the orthodontist would have noticed anyway without me having to say and number two) i thought if they knew i grinded my teeth then i wouldn’t receive the braces in the first place but I really wanted them…what should i do to solve this problem? am I going to have to pay for a new set? thank you!

Do you know of anyone who has had a bad experience when wearing lingual braces?

January 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hi, just briefly could you tell me if anyone has had any bad experiences with the lingual braces? Is it likely that food will get trapped in the braces all the time being at the back? If this is the case are they easy to clean? I understand that lingual braces are more cosmetic but I wouldn’t want something that’s a lot harder to maintain.

Should there still be signs of a lisp when I wear my Inman Aligner?

December 10th, 2012
Q.

Hello. I know that you’re supposed to have some speech problems at the start of getting braces put on but i have a constant lisp with the inman aligner in place. i feel like it’s getting worse gradually and its really affecting my confidence not so good. will it go away soon or how long even? i don’t want to be stuck with it! i don’t know what i should do as my orthodontist keeps saying it always happens in all cases but then for this long a time? i don’t think so! thanks.

My teeth have shifted after braces treatment years ago. Can Lingual Braces fix this?

November 29th, 2012
Q.

Hello i had the awful train track braces when i was much younger (around 15 years ago) and my teeth were straightened out in a painful yet necessary process but they’re falling back into place and shifting again which is a nightmare for me now. i wasn’t as good with my retainer as i should have been so i think this is the reason for my teeth movement. i’m looking for a fix and feel i may be suitable for linguals..my question is: do you often use this type of brace to fix shifting teeth that were previously treated with a fixed brace? thank you, best,

Will any of the past dental work I’ve had affect my suitability for lingual braces?

November 22nd, 2012
Q.

I am in a bit of confusion over my teeth. I have had a lot of treatments to my teeth in the past and was wondering if this woud stop me getting lingual braces in anyway. I had root canal treatment done on two teeth on the right hand side of my mouth on the bottom set of teeth. I have had these filled along with t double tooth on the top right, I am 30 now but when I was seventeen I had treatment to cure an over shot as my bottom teeth extruded farther than my top and were overlapped. I didnt keep to my retainer though so my teeth are now crooked. this is my fault and i want to put it right. Is there any reasons from what you can read here that would stop me having a brace behind my teeth? thank you

Are there any major differences between traditional braces and lingual braces?

November 22nd, 2012
Q.

i am 20 I have overlapped teeth, nothing major just overlapped the issue i now face is that my teeth i dont think are ready for braces. i have slight concaves in some of my my teeth, is this normal, is it a problem or could it be full stop? secondly could it stop me having braces and fixing my gap teeth. then, if i have a brace- being over 16 and needing to pay for it myself how much would it cost and how big is the difference between traditional braces and lingual in terms of finance is it actually that huge? also, sorry, are lingual braces quicker or better in any way (other than them being hidden) that i dont know of?

Can I get Damon braces that are fitted to the back of the teeth?

October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi. I have looked at a few braces and am torn as to which one to have I like the look of a few and have drawn up a shortlist on my own. I do intend to take it to the dentist and see what he thinks of it and which methods are best but I though I’d try and get some background on each first. I like the look of the damon brace and have read a lot of good reviews about it. is it possible to have the damon brace on the back of teeth? i like the idea of a lingual brace but have seen good things of the damon. however the damon is always on the front of the teeth and i wondered if this was for a reason or whether it was just easier/cheaper to do this. could you please help me with this and to expand, is it only the stb and incognito brace that you can have on the back of teeth? thanks
