Hi, just briefly could you tell me if anyone has had any bad experiences with the lingual braces? Is it likely that food will get trapped in the braces all the time being at the back? If this is the case are they easy to clean? I understand that lingual braces are more cosmetic but I wouldn’t want something that’s a lot harder to maintain.

That is quite a difficult question to answer because everyone copes differently with braces. I have had some patients that have struggled a bit with keeping the lingual braces clean where as others have no problems at all. Also most patients attend regular hygienist appointments to maintain good oral hygiene and find that this helps a lot.
If you are diligent with your cleaning, and given that you have even thought about it in the first place would indicate that you are, you should be able to keep them clean once you have had proper instruction.
