Hi Darsh.. I feel my teeth are in such a state I migh not be able to have braces, I had gum disease for a long while that eventually subsided about a year ago now, Ive been waiting trying to let my gums recover before making a move on any orthadontic treatment. I do not want train tracks that’s one thing I can do without. I would ideally like a set of lingual braces, I think I asked Dr Hutchinson about what braces were best on here not to long ago and he was adamant that either traditional braces (tooth coloured) or linguals were the way to go, but do you think gum disease will have left any damage that could affect me getting braces? like I said I definatley haven’t got it anymore just want to know about any relation that might exist between them and gum disease? cheers

I am having problems properly cleaning my lingual braces. Could you advise?

Q.

Dr Patel could you please help me with my braces. I really dont want to get gum disease whilst my braces are on, I have lingual braces and cleaning them is a nighmare it takes about an evening to do. I do clean them all the time but its hard and sometimes I feel myself that i do not do them properly even though i try to. I looked at causes of gum disease the other day and apparently its largely due to plaque build up that doesnt get removed. I would assume that lingual braces are perfect hosts for this as they are behind the teeth and bacteria can easily hide? I sometimes think that a bit of knowledge can be dangerous and now I am really worried and have noticed that my gums are not as pink ad they used to be. I have got about seven months left with them on according to my dentist and would not want to have them removed whilst it goes only for my teeth to revert back to where they were. please could you advise on what I could potentially do in this situation I am really bothered by the whole thing. kindly appreciate you taking the time to read this. thank you

Q.

hello there i need to find out what is best for me? i have been told about lingual braces and am really interested I am not down for the old ones I do not like them. I like the idea but have heard that they can make you talk funny and I don’t like the sound of that. I myself have then researched the inman aligner. I have crowded bottom teeth and would only require single arch treatment as the top are fine. could you tell me please what the variations in price between the inman aligner and the lingual braces are, generally speaking not on an individual case and which is best? it is literally the the front four bottom teeth that are crowded so if theres anything other than the inman i dont know about please let me know. thanks

I don’t understand why lingual braces are better than traditional ones?

Q.

Hi there, I don’t get the reason behind why some people choose to get lingual braces instead of the normal traditional ones. Braces don’t look that bad and when people get lingual braces they tend to start talking funny and they are probably harder to brush as all the brackets are behind the teeth and you can’t see them. Also wouldn’t they hurt more than normal braces? Or is there some hidden benefits that I don’t know about

I had a relapse after traditional braces and am looking to rectify it, what’s the deal with lingual braces?

Q.

hello I have looked online at potential/common side effects of lingual braces and wondered if there was any truth in them. does a lingual brace (behind the the teeth?) actually affect your speech? and apparently it can give your tongue issues with room? if it does how would you over come this? also how does the lingual brace affect your food? will it be any different to a traditional brace? i had one of them (fixed brace on the front of my teeth) years ago but have since relapsed back to almost to where I was at the beginning of my treatment but I don’t want to have to have them again as they were absolute hell I looked silly and hated them, and am looking to alternative treatments. cheers

Will potential gum disease affect my chances of getting a lingual brace?

Q.

Hi Dr Patel, I Have really badly crossed lower teeth and my upper teeth have started overlapping slightly, I don’t want traditional braces to fix these and have looked at lingual braces, the issue is I think I may have mild gum disease? my gum is slightly red and sensitive to knocks (catching with the a toothbrush usually results in bleeding) but only at the front of my mouth? would this stop me getting lingual braces, i’m thinking about issues with brushing etc.? and if so how do I combat it so I can then move on to actually having them straightened? any feedback would be great, thanks.

Could you give me a rough idea how much lingual braces would cost?

How well do Lingual Braces work when compared with traditional braces?

Q.

Hi, I don’t fully understand lingual braces? with a traditional set of braces I can see how the wire pulls across teeth in order to straighten them and despite not liking them to much aesthetically In would be comfortable having them as I know about them. they say fear is of the unknown as such I would like to know how they would pull teeth part without damaging them? I have crooked teeth and was looking for alternatives to traditional braces would I be better off looking at inmans or damons? issue with both of them is that you can see them! how does the lingual work and would you say that is the best option?

Can I get lingual braces with an overbite?

Q.

What type of bite do you have to have to get lingual braces? Answering this would really help me in choosing which braces I can get for my problem. I want to get invisible braces but i think my bite might stop me, I consider myself to have a slight over bite and someone said that I’d knock the brackets off, is this true? Please give me some advice because Iam really confused, thanks for your help
