What is the best brace to improve my chances of getting an acting role?

November 26th, 2012
Q.

Hello and please advise. I’m studying to become a trained actor and i’ve been advised by my agent to enquire about braces because my top set of teeth are very spaced and one of my canines protrude quite a bit. He thinks that if i have dental braces it’ll improve my chances of doing well in auditions/receiving more auditions etc. as you would expect really. I need something quick and discreet and something that does not affect my speech in ANY way, any recommendations? thanks!

Is there a difference between the clear, removable aligner types?

Q.

Hello expert S.Qureshi. I have been looking at straightening my teeth which are slightly crooked. My dentist said I was a good candidate for invisalign and that I should take extra time to do some research on this when I went home. I did this then found the clearstep and simpli5 treatments online. To me they all look the same but as of the other day so did all braces! is there a difference in these treatment techniques or are all they all the same? I want the most discreet treatment and thought this was it.

How long will Invisalign take to straighten teeth and what are the alternatives?

April 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi, Mr Patel I have been on your website for invisibrace and it got me thinking. I have been wondering about braces for a while now ever since I learnt they could go on the back as well as the font of the teeth. I had always thought of the conventional types you see. one of my more favoured treatments looks to be the invisalign. I assume it wont fix every case but it looks good. what treatment time would you say we’re looking at with this on average? if I cannot have this treatment what tends to be the most common alternative/ thanks

Would it be possible to break my treatment up, between both arches?

Q.

Hi Darsh Patel. I was wondering if you could give me some advice about orthodontics on my lower teeth. My to teeth have moved ever so slightly out of line, really not noticeable without taking extra attention. my lower ones however have crowded badly, I’ve heard that is quite common. I would like to have to lower ones straightened which will more than likely require a brace I’m not fussed about that but would it be ok for me to come back at a later date and perhaps have Invisalign on the top arch? would this be possible or would I have to have all the treatment all at once? I don’t want a full system on the top arch its really not necessary/worth it when compared with the alignment you see?

Would I be suitable for Invisalign and would I need teeth pulled?

Q.

I have relatively, in my opinion, relatively straight teeth and have always looked after them, as a result i have no issues with gum disease/bleeding when i brush etc (I was told tis was vital when getting braces). The only problem are my protruding two front buck teeth. Given the circumstances of no more space, could my two font teeth be pushed back with invisalign? Or would I have to pull teeth out to create space, secondly to this would it be harder for me to clean my teeth, making me more likely to get a gum disease or something? tah

Why have I heard so many different tales about different brace types?

Q.

hello Mr Patel. I have been llooking into getting a brace and have found that it is with anything else in life. If you want it and it looks good its not as good as it sounds, or not as good as the ugly one you dont want!!! in this case it comes down to the inman aligner and invisalign vs the damon and lingual for me. this is the small short-list which i have yet with the first two you’d think they had never been used or been successful with the things you hear “…they may not work, may not be for you, wont achieve this if any of the following 1000 criteria points don’t match…” etc. yet with the slightly more unsightly of the four (Damon) all you hear is amazing tales. I am not about to ask you which is best of the four but what are your opinions on the inman aligner and Damon system as a whole (not diagnosing for me- just your thoughts as an expert?) any feedback will help me build a picture of what to look for/expect. thank you

Which of Invisalign and Lingual braces would you recommend to straighten teeth?

Q.

Hi there Ms Qureshi.
Hi, On your page on the sparkle website you describe modern day orthodontics as ‘magic’ and having looked at lingual braces I must agree with you. however before I do I must challenge a few concepts 😀 all well natured. I have long considered getting braces and at thirty five I feel now’s the time to do just that. I have as I say looked at the lingual brace and see it as more of a sound option along with traditional’s and Damon systems the rest I see as a bit gimmicky even if i do like the invisalign idea. I was wondering what you would recommend for the best outcome between the lingual braces and Invisalign if you had the choice of wearing either. as according to my dentist I should be eligable for either? your thoughts will be highly regarded, thanks

Will a brace affect me playing my saxophone at University?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I’m at Birmingham University and am currently in my third year, studying BMus Music. obviously the year only started at the end of September and so the course hasn’t ran any great length of time. Now my dentist/orthodontist has told me I am going to need braces which has terrified me. of this I have two questions, firstly, do you think/have you heard cases whereby braces could affect a person playing an instrument such as a saxophone? and secondly, if the answer is yes do you think it will make a difference if I got lingual braces instead of traditional ones? I thought it might do as I’ll be able to move the embouchure more freely? please could you help me I don’t want this to affect UNI.

Do I need retainers after Invisalign treatment?

October 17th, 2011
Q.

I have just finished a course of invisalign aligners and am chuffed to bits, the removable nature of them ment that i could go on the occasional night out/meal with out them as well as take them out to wash my teeth. brilliant stuff. however, I literally finished last week and the dentist just sort of went, OK thats fine, brill. he took photos for his case study as he’s only just started offering the treatment. as a result however im left a bit worried. I just had this thought, if my teeth grew to be in that position albeit the wrong one then whats to stop me having a relapse hes said nothing (after doing a bit of research myself) of a retainer or anything? do i need one after invisalign all the examples i found were after traditional braces. The ting is if I do need one I dontparticularly want to be constantly taking this thing in/out it’ll be just like continuing my treatment for the rest of my life! are there alternatives to retainers? and also if there are not how long do i have to wear the retainer is it ‘for life?’
