Hi there, I don’t get the reason behind why some people choose to get lingual braces instead of the normal traditional ones. Braces don’t look that bad and when people get lingual braces they tend to start talking funny and they are probably harder to brush as all the brackets are behind the teeth and you can’t see them. Also wouldn’t they hurt more than normal braces? Or is there some hidden benefits that I don’t know about

Lingual braces are a great orthodontic option especially if aesthetics is important as they are placed on the back of your teeth, so no one will know you are wearing them. Lingual braces however have many other advantages, some lingual braces such as Incognito are custom made meaning they are individually designed and customised to the shape of your teeth, so they will only fit you and are tailor made for your treatment. The risks of marks left on the front of the tooth surfaces is removed, this sometimes occurs with standard braces.
It takes around 10 days to get used to the brace, so speech may be affected to begin with but once your tongue has accommodated the brace this will return to normal. In regards to cleaning it is a little trickier to clean than a standard brace but once you have been shown how to keep the brace clean it will be fine.
