Hi There Dr Patel, I’m Really Happy With My Braces, But I Struggle To Clean The Very Back Teeth. Any Tips?

Hi there Dr Patel!!! I’m really happy with my braces, but I really struggle with cleaning my very, very back teeth. Especially now that my braces have been tightened a little bit. It’s pretty much impossible to even attempt to get at them. So essentially I wanted to know whether or not you know of any neat tricks to get the back top and bottom teeth cleaned really well. I’ve tried to be inventive so far but a pipe cleaner doesn’t work too well! Hope to hear back from you. Thank you.

Do you know of anyone who has had a bad experience when wearing lingual braces?

Hi, just briefly could you tell me if anyone has had any bad experiences with the lingual braces? Is it likely that food will get trapped in the braces all the time being at the back? If this is the case are they easy to clean? I understand that lingual braces are more cosmetic but I wouldn’t want something that’s a lot harder to maintain.

I am having problems properly cleaning my lingual braces. Could you advise?

Dr Patel could you please help me with my braces. I really dont want to get gum disease whilst my braces are on, I have lingual braces and cleaning them is a nighmare it takes about an evening to do. I do clean them all the time but its hard and sometimes I feel myself that i do not do them properly even though i try to. I looked at causes of gum disease the other day and apparently its largely due to plaque build up that doesnt get removed. I would assume that lingual braces are perfect hosts for this as they are behind the teeth and bacteria can easily hide? I sometimes think that a bit of knowledge can be dangerous and now I am really worried and have noticed that my gums are not as pink ad they used to be. I have got about seven months left with them on according to my dentist and would not want to have them removed whilst it goes only for my teeth to revert back to where they were. please could you advise on what I could potentially do in this situation I am really bothered by the whole thing. kindly appreciate you taking the time to read this. thank you

I don’t understand why lingual braces are better than traditional ones?

Hi there, I don’t get the reason behind why some people choose to get lingual braces instead of the normal traditional ones. Braces don’t look that bad and when people get lingual braces they tend to start talking funny and they are probably harder to brush as all the brackets are behind the teeth and you can’t see them. Also wouldn’t they hurt more than normal braces? Or is there some hidden benefits that I don’t know about
