Which Type Of Brace Will Rectify My Canine Trouble?

July 11th, 2013
Q.

My teeth are very crowded, both the upper and the lower with my canines digging into my gums. My mum didn’t think I needed braces when I was younger and when she realised it was too late to received them through the NHS. They are a state though and I’m looking for a good brace system that will fix them as soon as possible. I think it seems likely that the canines will have to be removed but do you know of any brace that can avoid this from happening? I’d have to pay for implants or whatever then as well wouldn’t I? It’s going to cost me an absolute fortune and I have no idea where to start but I can’t carry on like this. Thank you for reading this.

How Can I Pay For My Braces?

June 27th, 2013
Q.

I really don’t want a train-track brace but my mum and dad don’t have great jobs so they’ve already said they can’t afford to pay for ‘fancy’ braces as they call them. I have to go to high school and I don’t want to be bullied. There was this one girl there who got picked on because of her braces and she always had food trapped in them. My jaw hurts all the time and the gaps in between my teeth are huge, the definitely need fixing. Can you please suggest something? I’m 15 and trying to get a part-time job so can I pay for them that way? Or can I get some help from someone? Thanks.

Should my daughter receive traditional braces through the NHS or Damon braces privately?

October 31st, 2012
Q.

Hi there, I have been to the ortodontist today with my 8 year old daughter. She has a class 3 crossbite. She will need treatment and were given the choice of payying privately now for damon braces or waiting until she is older and having NHS treatment with traditional braces. I don’t know which is going to give her the best result and the orthodontist can’t advise me. If damon braces are generally a shorter treatment time therefore less costs labour wise, less painful and with fewer extractions how come they aren’t available on the NHS? Which treatment path would you recommend? Thanks
