My Teeth Are Very Sensitive Now I’m Wearing Braces. Is This Normal?

August 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Qureshi, I’m really hoping you can help me. I got braces just less than 4 months ago and now my teeth have gotten very sensitive. It’s mostly to cold things, like cold drinks and food like yoghurts that have been in the fridge. Sometimes if it’s cold outside the air actually affects my teeth and they feel sensitive even then! Is this normal, and what can be done about it? It really is a nuisance, and it’s very uncomfortable at times.

Hey Dr Qureshi. I Would Like Lingual Braces But My Veneer Keeps Falling Off And Causing Problems. What Should I Do?

December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hey Dr Qureshi, I had removable braces for 3-4 years (age 13-16) to help straighten my top teeth, but after a year of no braces my teeth were crooked. Last year in August when I was 18 I had a veneer on one of my bottom teeth, however the fake tooth had fallen off twice, thus my tooth has now been covered with cement. I am now stuck because I want to have lingual braces, although that one tooth is causing problems, because if I have the cement taken off the tooth would be sensitive. What do you suggest that I do? Regards, I look forward to your advice.

My Teeth Have Become Ridiculously Sensitive To The Cold Weather Now I Have My Braces. I Would Love Some Practical Advice?

December 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I hope you can help me because my problem is becoming a little too much to deal with at this time. I got braces a couple of months ago and now I’ve noticed that my teeth appear to have become ridiculously sensitive to the cold. Not just cold drinks but if it’s slightly colder outside than normal then I get quite extreme pain just from breathing! Is there anything I can do about this without going back to my orthodontist? Kind of in a bad way here and would love some practical advice. Thanks a lot.
