How long is it to get tooth gap closed wearing braces?

Q.
Hi I have always had a gap betwwen my teeth, and I hated it, so after so many years I’m going to do something about it. How many dental visits do I have to make before and after the gap is closed and I have a tooth that is slightly higher up than all my other teeth, will this affect the gap being closed? Does the procedure take long and what do I have to do straight after the gap is closed? I cannot wait to start feeling confident again. thanks for your time. Kind Regards
A.
Hi,
There are several methods of closing gaps between teeth. If the gap is small and the teeth otherwise straight then a cosmetic build-up of the teeth either side of the gap can be considered, otherwise braces should be used to close the gaps and straightned the teeth at the same time.
I’m afraid I can’t tell you how long it will take, not having seen your teeth, that can only be anwsered at a consultation once an orthodontist has had a chance to see the teeth, however some treatment can be completed in just 6-8 months time.
I would advise some consultations to see what braces are offered and how long they will take,
Good luck!
