Can braces be worn on ‘weak’ teeth?

Q.
I’m twenty six year olds and am considering getting Lingual Braces but been told by my old dentist that my teeth are too weak for braces and I should get bridges, but I do not want to extract or “shape” my teeth for bridges and change them every 5-10 years for the rest of my life, and I dont have missing teeth so there’s no point of extracting. and read somewhere on some website that there is not such a thing as Too Weak Teeth For Braces… so my question is… Can braces be worn on weak teeth?
A.
Hi,
It really depends in what sense the teeth are weak.
Some people suffer with alot of decay, which can be addressed by improving diet and toothbrushing, others suffer with severe gum problems which are abit harder to deal with.
If just the surface of the teeth is poor, braces can still be worn but will need extra vigilance on both your and the orthodontists part to make sure that the teeth are not damaged.
I hope that helps,
Kind regards,
