Will getting fillings and bonding affect my chances of getting braces for crooked teeth?

Q.
Hi Mr Patel I am from the Dominican Republic but have living here for nearly ten year. I have been told that I need a lot of restoration work on my teeth due to sugars I have encountered in the past. Also my teeth are crooked and I have considered having a brace. I have now saved up money and was thinking about getting a smart brace and have now been recommended to look at lingual braces. I was hoping you could tell me if there was any restoration work that would interfere with me getting a ligual brace. I need a few fillings and have been told that also I need cosmetic bonding? I am not sure what this is but will either of these things affect me getting a brace that goes behind my teeth? thank you, speak soon

Hi there! Having fillings is a fact of life, especially for adults and would not cause problems with having a lingual brace. You must have all decay and fillings done before any brace treatment to make sure you are “dentally Fit” but otherwise we can stick braces to almost all surfaces, even lingually.
I would leave any cosmetic work till the end of treatment as the final icing on the cake!

So, get a consultation with a Specialist Orthodontist and find out you options!

Good luck!
