Will chipped tooth prevent me from getting braces?

Q.
Hello I was just wondering if you would be able to give me your professional opinion to help me? i’m due to go ahead with receiving invisalign braces, i’ve had all the measurements taken etc but i chipped my tooth at the weekend and i have to see my dentist this week, will this stop me receiving the braces? will i have to have the tooth fixed up first before i can start with my brace treatment? i’m really worried!

Hi there,
If the chip is a small one then you should be okay.
You must mention it to your orthodontist because the invisalign may not fit properly if the filling does not follow the lines of the tooth as it was when the impression was taken. This means one of two things… either a new mould will have to be done OR the orthodontist will have to reshape the filling slightly so that it fits into the aligner.

I hope that helps,

Kind regards,
