Which Is Less Likely to Affect My Speech – Invisalign or Incognito?

Q.
Hello Dr Qureshi. I know I need braces but I don’t want them to be visible, so I’ve done some research into discreet orthodontic systems. However, I’d like to know your opinion on the difference between Incogntio and Invisalign – which is most comfortable? I know a girl from my local gym had braces but they cause her a lot of pain and discomfort, as well as her speech being impaired. I work in a coffee shop and spend all day talking to customers, so it’s important that my speech isn’t affected. Thank you.

Hi, thank you for your question. Lingual braces are completely invisible as they are fixed to the back of the teeth, whereas Invisalign aligners are very discreet as they’re clear braces, so both would allow you the discretion you’d prefer. Unfortunately, all orthodontic systems are likely to affect your speech in the initial stages, but this shouldn’t last too long. The best thing to do is speak to your orthodontist to discuss the best treatment for you. Good luck!
