What’s The Difference Between Lingual Braces And Invisalign?

Q.
Hi Dr. Qureshi, I wondered if you could help me. I have had terrible teeth for many years, they are crooked and horrible to look at and have decided to get braces to straighten them out. I’ve been looking at lingual braces and also at Invisalign, what’s the difference? I know a few celebrities have used Invisalign so it intrigued me, however I do like the sound of lingual braces. Which would be best for me? Thank you.

Hi, thank you for your question. Lingual braces are fixed to the back of your teeth, also known as the lingual side. They use a wire to move the teeth into the desired position. Invisalign is a set of clear aligners that you change every two weeks. The main difference is that Invisalign is removable and lingual braces are fixed.

Both are extremely effective, however lingual braces work a lot faster due to the fact that they are fixed and use a wire.
With regards to which would be best for you, I’d have to see you to be able to know for sure. Book a consultation with your orthodontist to discuss which brace is better suited to your situation. Good luck!
