Would I Be Eligible For A Lingual Brace With Missing Back Teeth?

January 20th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Hutchinson. I have two missing back teeth (on the same time) I would like to know if I should go for a consultation and I do plan to but just wondering if I would be suitable for any type of brace? I wanted a lingual brace with them being fixed to the back of the teeth (I really don’t want people to know I’m wearing a brace) but would this be possible if I have missing back teeth? I just want a general idea, I’d really like to hear what you have to say. Thank you.

Would I Develop A Lisp If I Were To Get A Lingual Brace?

January 13th, 2014
Q.

Please advise as to the following:
1. I understand that lingual braces can cause a speech defect eg, lisp and that this improves with time and practice. However does it disappear completely during the treatment and on average how long does this take?

2. After removal of the lingual brace does speech return to normal or is lisping defect permanent? Is there any chance that after removal speech will not return back to normal?

3. Is this treatment available outside of the UK?

Please advise me on the above questions.

Can Six Month Smiles Fix An Overbite In A Matter Of Weeks?

January 6th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Hutchinson. I hope you can help. What are the chances of 6 month smiles being able to fix an overbite in the next coming weeks? I’ve had fixed braces before and mistreated my retainer so they’ve relapsed, just looking for something quick and discreet. I know you can’t give me any exact answers without seeing me but I just wondered how many you have successfully treated with overbite problems? I’m just making some general enquiries before I go ahead with booking consultations/gathering finances etc. Cheers, any information on this matter would really be doing me a great favour.

What Is The Fastest Type Of Brace To Close The Gaps In Teeth?

January 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I need to ask you what the easiest and fasted way to close gaps in teeth is? I have read a lot online about different wonder treatments that make me think the train tracs are pre-historic but then I read horror stories that make me think they’re the unavoidable reality. I don’t want train tracks but I would like to know what treatment works as well/better when closing gaps in teeth? Thank you for any advice you can provide me with in advance.

Hey Doctor Patel, I’ve Developed A Sore Throat After Wearing Invisalign. Why Is This This?

December 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hey Doctor I have what I’m sure is a common problem that you could help me out with. Basically about 3 weeks ago I started on my Invisalign treatment. It was fine for the first couple of days but then I noticed that I had a slightly raw throat. I thought that this was just a bug that I’d get over so left it but it hasn’t got any better, it has in fact got worse. I’ve only just read that there are potential toxic reactions in some people so now I’m worried. Can you shed some light on this situation? Should I continue with the treatment or am I at risk of the problem getting worse if I do? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

For Years As A Child I Used To Grind My Teeth. What Would Be The Best Orthodontic Treatment For Fixing This?

December 16th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Hutchinson, I’m having a problem with my teeth that I hope you can help me with. For years as a child I used to grind my teeth. Well not so much grinding but I used to bite a lot for no reason, as a result my two teeth behind my canines on the lower jaw have been pushed in slightly to make a bit of a concave shape on the arch (both sides). What would be the best orthodontic treatment for fixing this? Thank you for your time and any advice you can provide me with.

Hey Dr Qureshi. I Would Like Lingual Braces But My Veneer Keeps Falling Off And Causing Problems. What Should I Do?

December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hey Dr Qureshi, I had removable braces for 3-4 years (age 13-16) to help straighten my top teeth, but after a year of no braces my teeth were crooked. Last year in August when I was 18 I had a veneer on one of my bottom teeth, however the fake tooth had fallen off twice, thus my tooth has now been covered with cement. I am now stuck because I want to have lingual braces, although that one tooth is causing problems, because if I have the cement taken off the tooth would be sensitive. What do you suggest that I do? Regards, I look forward to your advice.

My Teeth Have Become Ridiculously Sensitive To The Cold Weather Now I Have My Braces. I Would Love Some Practical Advice?

December 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I hope you can help me because my problem is becoming a little too much to deal with at this time. I got braces a couple of months ago and now I’ve noticed that my teeth appear to have become ridiculously sensitive to the cold. Not just cold drinks but if it’s slightly colder outside than normal then I get quite extreme pain just from breathing! Is there anything I can do about this without going back to my orthodontist? Kind of in a bad way here and would love some practical advice. Thanks a lot.

Are Braces Good For Sorting Out My Misaligned Teeth? Should I See An Orthodontist Or Is This A Medical Issue?

November 25th, 2013
Q.

Hello! I would like to know if any of the braces you supply are good for fixing crossbites? I’m not really sure if this is something I can see an orthodontist about OR is this more of a medical issue? I don’t want to book a consultation (and have to pay for it) if the orthodontist is only going to tell me that I have to see someone else about this matter. It’s only a slight crossbite but my two front teeth are also quite misaligned. Any advice would be great. Thank you very much for your time in replying to this.

Hi Doctor. I’m In A Bit Of A Pickle, A Bracket Has Come Loose And Food Keeps Getting Caught In It. Is This Normal?

November 18th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I’m in a bit of a pickle. My brace keeps getting food caught in it, it is the one that is on the back of the teeth and I didn’t think that this was supposed to happen. One of the brackets I think may be a little bit loose. Just wondering if it’s anything I should be concerned with. What would you suggest that I do? It’s the worst when I have toast or a sandwich, the bread just gets stuck and I have to reach for it with my tongue or when I clean my teeth. Is this just normal? I hope to hear from you, thank you for any advice in advance.
