Would I Develop A Lisp If I Were To Get A Lingual Brace?

January 13th, 2014
Q.

Please advise as to the following:
1. I understand that lingual braces can cause a speech defect eg, lisp and that this improves with time and practice. However does it disappear completely during the treatment and on average how long does this take?

2. After removal of the lingual brace does speech return to normal or is lisping defect permanent? Is there any chance that after removal speech will not return back to normal?

3. Is this treatment available outside of the UK?

Please advise me on the above questions.

What Is The Fastest Type Of Brace To Close The Gaps In Teeth?

January 2nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I need to ask you what the easiest and fasted way to close gaps in teeth is? I have read a lot online about different wonder treatments that make me think the train tracs are pre-historic but then I read horror stories that make me think they’re the unavoidable reality. I don’t want train tracks but I would like to know what treatment works as well/better when closing gaps in teeth? Thank you for any advice you can provide me with in advance.

Hey Doctor Patel, I’ve Developed A Sore Throat After Wearing Invisalign. Why Is This This?

December 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hey Doctor I have what I’m sure is a common problem that you could help me out with. Basically about 3 weeks ago I started on my Invisalign treatment. It was fine for the first couple of days but then I noticed that I had a slightly raw throat. I thought that this was just a bug that I’d get over so left it but it hasn’t got any better, it has in fact got worse. I’ve only just read that there are potential toxic reactions in some people so now I’m worried. Can you shed some light on this situation? Should I continue with the treatment or am I at risk of the problem getting worse if I do? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

Hey Dr Qureshi. I Would Like Lingual Braces But My Veneer Keeps Falling Off And Causing Problems. What Should I Do?

December 9th, 2013
Q.

Hey Dr Qureshi, I had removable braces for 3-4 years (age 13-16) to help straighten my top teeth, but after a year of no braces my teeth were crooked. Last year in August when I was 18 I had a veneer on one of my bottom teeth, however the fake tooth had fallen off twice, thus my tooth has now been covered with cement. I am now stuck because I want to have lingual braces, although that one tooth is causing problems, because if I have the cement taken off the tooth would be sensitive. What do you suggest that I do? Regards, I look forward to your advice.

My Teeth Have Become Ridiculously Sensitive To The Cold Weather Now I Have My Braces. I Would Love Some Practical Advice?

December 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel. I hope you can help me because my problem is becoming a little too much to deal with at this time. I got braces a couple of months ago and now I’ve noticed that my teeth appear to have become ridiculously sensitive to the cold. Not just cold drinks but if it’s slightly colder outside than normal then I get quite extreme pain just from breathing! Is there anything I can do about this without going back to my orthodontist? Kind of in a bad way here and would love some practical advice. Thanks a lot.

Hi Doctor. I’m In A Bit Of A Pickle, A Bracket Has Come Loose And Food Keeps Getting Caught In It. Is This Normal?

November 18th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I’m in a bit of a pickle. My brace keeps getting food caught in it, it is the one that is on the back of the teeth and I didn’t think that this was supposed to happen. One of the brackets I think may be a little bit loose. Just wondering if it’s anything I should be concerned with. What would you suggest that I do? It’s the worst when I have toast or a sandwich, the bread just gets stuck and I have to reach for it with my tongue or when I clean my teeth. Is this just normal? I hope to hear from you, thank you for any advice in advance.

Hi Darsh, Can You Tell Me Whether Lingual Braces Are Suitable For Fixing A Crossbite?

November 11th, 2013
Q.

Hi Darsh. I hope you can provide me with help and advice. What I want to know is, who exactly are lingual braces designed for? I’m booking a consultation with my local orthodontist who I want to discuss lingual braces with but I want to know if I’m suitable before I go. I have a crossbite and a large gap in between my front tooth. Generally, can lingual braces treat these problems? It would be great if you could help me with this. Thank you.

I Think My Inman Aligner Might Be Broken And I Don’t Want Folk Out More Money. What Should I Do?

October 28th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I have a problem as the little coil that comes with the Inman aligner is now at a funny angle, and I think it could be broken because when I put it back in after cleaning it felt really loose, I don’t know if it’s just me thinking it though as I might be worrying too much. Should I take it to my orthodontist to check out? I really don’t want to charged a fortune if it is broken though, I’ve already had to pay a lot to have it in the first place. Thanks. I hope you can help me with this as it’s bothering me.

I Have Porcelain Crowns And I Would Like To Know If Lingual Braces Are Suitable Or Is There A Chance They Can Chip?

October 21st, 2013
Q.

Hi. I have to porcelain crowns on my front teeth because of an accident I was involved in several years ago. My canine teeth have always protruded and I’m looking into getting some discreet braces. My only concern is that a brace will damage my crowns, they’re very new I only had them replaced last month. Even if I had braces attached to the back of my teeth there’s a chance they’ll chip away at the back of my crowns, isn’t there? Can you please help me and offer some advice. What is a good brace for those with crowns? Thank you for your time.

I Made An Appointment Recently As I’m Having Six Month Smile Treatment, But My Dentist Is Ill And I Don’t Know What To Do?

October 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi, I have a problem I’d like to get off my chest as it’s really bothering me. I made an appointment recently with my dentist as soon as I had my adjustments (for 6 month smiles). I was supposed to have an appointment this week but it was cancelled due to him taking ill. I haven’t been scheduled to see anyone else and I don’t know what I’m supposed to do? The receptionist said someone would be in touch but they haven’t yet so should I be concerned? Will this delay affect my treatment at all?
