Can I get anything other than traditional braces on the NHS?

October 17th, 2011
Q.

hi I am 15 and am 16 in three months. I have crooked teeth that I want sorting out. I know that the NHS stops providing for orthodontic/brace treatment after the age of 16 unless thats changed as well? I wanted to know, do they only provide for train tracks or can I get some/all of any of the lingual type braces as I dont want to start college with train tracks? If they Dont is the a Chance that I can get aid in terms of paying for the procedure of having lingual braces? my mum is a single mum and gets child support if that makes a difference? If not I work and will try to save up, which brings me to my next point, is the a consistently cheaper option out of the lingual systems, I figured Inmans and Damons are the more expensive, and how much do they average at? cheers :D

How much time does it take for Six Month Smiles and the Inman Aligner to straighten teeth?

October 17th, 2011
Q.

I have got very crooked teeth at the front of my mouth and have talked to many people on forums and the like, but none of them are experts. I have been looking to fix these but using an alternative method to traditional braces. I have looked at the inman aligner and have been told on many occasion that it is one of the fastest treatments to sort out crooked teeth, would you say that this is the case? ad also could you tell me about them? I wanted to know, if they are fast how fast is fast because you can get this six month smile treatment which is obviously really quick. If the inmans are quick how do they work and how much do they cost and how do they work? I know this seems like a lot but thankyou in advance, I just want to gather as much information/feedback as I can before making a decision , thankyou.

Can I have my teeth whitened whilst wearing my lingual braces?

October 14th, 2011
Q.

Hello Can I Have my teeth whitened whilst I am still wearing my lingual set of braces? This made me think because I was firstly unsure as to whether they have to have access to both sides of the tooth or whether they literally just need to do the front as seems obvious. If it is possible to do this then what would you recommend best because you can get them home whitening packages (do these actually work?) as well as seemingly good deals at beauty salons as well as dentists which I would otherwise assume is the more expensive of the three options. or like i said is it not possible to go through this treatment anyway when wearing lingual braces?

How well do Lingual Braces work when compared with traditional braces?

October 14th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I don’t fully understand lingual braces? with a traditional set of braces I can see how the wire pulls across teeth in order to straighten them and despite not liking them to much aesthetically In would be comfortable having them as I know about them. they say fear is of the unknown as such I would like to know how they would pull teeth part without damaging them? I have crooked teeth and was looking for alternatives to traditional braces would I be better off looking at inmans or damons? issue with both of them is that you can see them! how does the lingual work and would you say that is the best option?

What is the difference between Social Six braces and lingual lights?

October 14th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I need to ask a question about lingual braces if I may. I quickly looked at images of the Social Six braces and genuinely like the idea behind it as my five or six front teeth or so are not good and ruin the over all look of my smile. I at first wondered if it were possible to have the social six but smaller like a lighter type design to give the tongue more room- at this point I then notices the STB light lingual braces so I got a picture of these and as far as I can see there is no difference? could you please highlight for time the differences between the two systems and which one will work better for mildly crooked teeth, as t which is quicker, more comfortable so on and so forth?

As a school teacher I do not want traditional braces, what are my alternatives?

October 7th, 2011
Q.

hello, I have studied the linguals and like the look (or not) of them. I do hold issues with them though being that they can apparently affect your speech and can also give you ulcers on your tongue. firstly i’d like to know if this is true or not? I really want to avoid traditional train tracks as i think they look appalling and as a school teacher i cannot stand in front of a class with them things on even if half the pupils have :D which treatments offer the same outcome just as effectively? but do not hold these drawbacks? also i was wondering if by any chance they were quicker? its just a lot of the treatments offered on this site seem to be quicker than traditional braces so i was wondering?

Will my previous brace treatment affect the long term results of potential lingual braces?

October 6th, 2011
Q.

Can I get lingual braces even though I have had previous braces treatment when I was younger? I’m not positive if this will have any effect but I want to be sure before I actually start to properly look into the different dental practices in my area that offer this treatment. When I was younger I had metal braces which I didn’t like at all and that the results have not lasted all these years is really the icing on the cake. Would the results from lingual last? I don’t want to waste my money or time and find the results don’t even last.

I have baby teeth and want implants and braces, advice?

October 6th, 2011
Q.

I am 24 years old and I have about 4 baby teeth still in my mouth. They are the fangy teeth. One of the baby teeth have fallen out recently however, which has left an ridiculous looking gap in my smile as the adult tooth was behind it and cannot be seen. The other 3 teeth have the adult teeth behind them. I am wondering what I can do about this. I also have an overbite. Do I qualify for lingual braces? invisalign? would I need surgery for this matter? Could I get implants? Please advise. I appreciate it.

I only have a minor defect but will my teeth be ready for son’s graduation?

September 28th, 2011
Q.

Dr Hutchinson I have been having issues with one rouge tooth right at the front of my mouth for some time now. The front left incisor has broken rank and started to grow off at an angle towards my right incisor at about 30/40 degrees! Personally I think it looks a mess and have always put off having anything done- “ill do it next month” type of thing, but with my sons graduation next May I want it put it right! The rest of my teeth are fine (straight at least) and would not require attention for now. His graduation is next may would 7/8 months be enough time with it only being one tooth? Cheers for any feedback in advance
