Which Is Less Likely to Affect My Speech – Invisalign or Incognito?

July 21st, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I know I need braces but I don’t want them to be visible, so I’ve done some research into discreet orthodontic systems. However, I’d like to know your opinion on the difference between Incogntio and Invisalign – which is most comfortable? I know a girl from my local gym had braces but they cause her a lot of pain and discomfort, as well as her speech being impaired. I work in a coffee shop and spend all day talking to customers, so it’s important that my speech isn’t affected. Thank you.

Will Lingual Braces Close a Gap in my Teeth?

July 4th, 2014
Q.

Hello there Dr Hutchinson. I need your advice. I’m all set to go to uni this year and I have gap between my teeth the size of Jupiter. Would I need lingual braces to stop me looking like a horse? Would I need to see you in person. It might be difficult as I live all the way up in Scotland? I’m still reeling over Andy Murray getting knocked of Wimbledon, but anyway, the gap? I would be extremely disappointed if you didn’t get back to me with an answer straight away!

Are My Lingual Braces Broken?

July 3rd, 2014
Q.

Hi there, I’m having a problem with my lingual braces. The brace feels loose at the back of my teeth, and it didn’t before. Does that fact that it’s loose mean that it’s not working? I’ve got an appointment with my orthodontist in 2 weeks anyway for them to be adjusted but I just would like to know in the meantime because I’m worried. They cost a lot of money and I don’t want to have to spend loads more. The wires are loose so it feels like it’s moving in my mouth. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Can I Correct the Gaps in My Teeth, and How Much Will it Cost?

June 26th, 2014
Q.

Hi Ian. I’ve got fairly large gaps between my teeth and am considering the different ways of correcting the problem. I wore braces when I was 17-18, but I never wore the retainers properly which I’m assuming is what has caused the gaps. I’m now in my 40′s, is it possible to correct the gaps now even though I’ve waited so long? Also how long would it take and how much would it cost? I look forward to your response.

I’m 16 and Still At School. Why Do I Need to Pay For Treatment?

June 23rd, 2014
Q.

Hi, I’m 16 years old and still at school. My teeth are very wonky on both the top and the bottom. I visited an orthodontist and he said I’d have to pay nearly £2000. He said this is because it’s classed as a cosmetic thing, but my normal dentist has been telling me I need braces since I was 7. I’ve got a wisdom tooth coming through at the bottom and it’s pushing my teeth and making them even more crooked. Can I have any other kind of treatment that isn’t so expensive?

I Can’t Brush My Back Teeth with Braces On. Do You Have Any Suggestions?

June 18th, 2014
Q.

Hi there Dr Hutchinson. I am happy with my braces and they’re not causing me any discomfort or problems, but I do struggle to reach the back teeth with my toothbrush when it comes to brushing them. My braces have recently been tightened, so it is nearly impossible to get to them and brush them properly! Do you have any suggestions on how this can be done? I’m very big on oral hygiene so it’s quite frustrating for me! Thanks.

Would You Recommend Going Abroad to Get Lingual Braces?

June 16th, 2014
Q.

Hi Dr Qureshi. I am 29 years old and would love to get lingual braces to straighten out my smile. I live just outside of London though and the prices of all the different brace systems I’ve looked at are very, VERY expensive. I feel as though I’m too old for traditional braces and lingual braces sound perfect for me. I have looked at getting them abroad and it’s significantly cheaper, would you recommend this? I’ve read a few success stories so am curious, as I would really like to get my teeth straightened.

My Inman Aligner is Causing a Lot of Pain, Even After 6 Months. Is This Normal?

June 11th, 2014
Q.

Hi Ian, I have rather an urgent problem. I got an Inman Aligner about 6 weeks ago I got an Inman Aligner to see to my orthodontic problems. I didn’t think it would hurt so much, since they put it in I’ve just been in agony! It’s almost as if there’s too much pressure on the gums, but it’s unbearably painful. I expected pain in the initial stages as my mouth got used to the aligner but it hasn’t subsided since day one. Is it normal to still feel pain after this long? Should I carry on with this treatment? Thanks in advance.

What’s the Best Treatment for Fixing a Gap Between Teeth?

June 5th, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Qureshi. I have just turned 22 and recently I’ve noticed that there’s a gap between two of my teeth at the front. Well, I say noticed, it has always been there but it seems to have gotten bigger and I’m not imagining things, my boyfriend has noticed it too. Is there a treatment that will fix the gap? It’s knocked my confidence quite a lot you see. I understand that it won’t close overnight with any brace, but I’d prefer quick treatment, especially if the braces are ugly! Thanks.

I Have A Gap Between My Teeth. Which Kind Of Treatment Is Most Suitable?

May 29th, 2014
Q.

Hello, please answer me. I have an overbite, but this doesn’t bother me as much as the massive gap between my front teeth. What kind of treatment would be best for closing the gap? I’ve looked at veneers, but would the overbite prevent me from being able to have them? I’ve also thought about dentures! My dentist has told me that braces might be best but I’m concerned about the length of time it would take to close the gap. Thank you for your time!
