I have overlapping teeth and my only option seems to be intercepting braces. Can you advise?

Q.
Hi Saba. I am thirteen and my teeth have started to move to a point whereby they have overlapped slightly. My dentist and orthodontist have told me they can use intercepting braces to treat the problem now before it gets worse. They didn’t give me a time as to how long it would take because it’s different. I think he’s just trying to get me in braces quicker because that’s what a lot of them are doing. what are your thoughts on intercepting?
A.
Hi there.
Often you find that the teeth can get worse with time but it is impossible to tell exactly when and how bad they will get. I think that at your age, it’s a good time to get it done, you’ll find things move relatively quickly. Then, once it’s done, the most important thing is to be good with your retainers and then the teeth can be maintained in their new corrected position.
I hope you find this useful.
