Hi! I just want to know if the attachments on the social 6 braces remain completely invisible at the back? Does it work with just a wire? Or are attachments present? The thing is, I’ve got it into my head that because it looks after only 6 teeth it means that the attachments will be bigger/bulkier. I ask because I constantly deliver presentations to large retail companies, I don’t want them to notice I’m wearing braces because of the nature of the industry and I don’t want the braces to affect my speech. Thank you for any advice!
Hi,
The social 6 really only refers to the top front 6 teeth from upper right canine through to upper left canine. There are several social 6 type of braces. There are the clear aligners like Invisalign, fixed braces which are ceramic tooth coloured braces or a removable Inman aligner which is largely behind the teeth with a coated metal bar applying pressure from the front of the teeth.
The only braces that will be completely invisible are lingual braces which are fitted behind the teeth, but these will affect your speech slightly for a short period of time.
The best thing to do is to discuss all of your treatment options with your orthodontist and to clarify any queries/worries you may have.
