Hello Dr Qureshi. I’m in a bit of a pickle. My brace keeps getting food caught in it, it is the one that is on the back of the teeth and I didn’t think that this was supposed to happen. One of the brackets I think may be a little bit loose. Just wondering if it’s anything I should be concerned with. What would you suggest that I do? It’s the worst when I have toast or a sandwich, the bread just gets stuck and I have to reach for it with my tongue or when I clean my teeth. Is this just normal? I hope to hear from you, thank you for any advice in advance.

Hello thanks for writing in and getting in touch. I would suggest you see your orthodontist, they should take a look at your braces and tighten them if need be. In the meantime I would suggest that you avoid food such as bread as this if food that gets easily trapped. Food that gets caught has a higher chance of causing decay.
