I need to re-straighten my teeth after suffering a relapse to avoid gum disease and cleaning issues.

December 23rd, 2011
Q.

when i was 16 i had nhs braces fitted on both sets of teeth.i had them on the top because my front teeth overlaped and i had protuding fangs and my bottom teeth were overcrowding at the front. i had the braces removed when i was 17 years old but due to discomfort i never wore the plastic teeth mould that i should have worn on a night so my teeth have now moved back to the positions they were before the braces. and i have still got the gaps in my top set of teeth where i had teeth removed but they havent closed up properly.is there anything i can do to get them sorted out like lingual braces.or have i blown my chances because i have already had braces on. i take great pride in my dental care and i never have to have any treatments when visiting my dentist every 6 months but i am scared of contracting gum dease later on in life because i cant brush my bottom teeth properly because of the overcrowding

I am not satisfied with my smile, can braces help?

December 21st, 2011
Q.

I’m satisfied with everything with myself except my smile and its driven me crazy since I was about 10 years of age. I’ve never had braces (I’m 22) and have really white teeth, but I hate smiling because I feel my teeth are big and come down too far in my smile. I also have atleast a slight overbite. I do not have a “gummy” smile, but still cannot feel comfortable enough to smile on most occasions. So I’m asking what would be done in a procedure to make my teeth be up a bit higher when I smile? I don’t imagine this being solved with braces but my friend seems to think that anything can be done with braces! she’s into all this. and said that I could even ave a brace on the back of my teeth should I choose that route. without seeing me what do you think Dr. thanks

What is the difference between Incognito and STb Lingual braces?

December 16th, 2011
Q.

I am considering getting lingual braces for my tooth problem and I have had a initial consultation with a dentist practitioner in my local area who offers the stb lingual light system braces at their practice. Can you tell me how this type of lingual braces is compared to the incognito lingual braces that I have seen elsewhere. Is there any difference in comfort and performance between the two and and the actual fitting process? Please let me know what the deal is.

Would lingual braces be able to help with teeth that are evenly spaced?

December 14th, 2011
Q.

I have tooth gaps that are evenly spaced and actually quite big when I look at them and I know other people are looking at them I’m sure!. Would some kind of lingual braces be able to help with this? What kind of treatment time do you think I would be looking at. What I really worry about with these is how much painful they would be because of them being behind the teeth and so closer to the o tongue and insides? If you can provide the answers I would be thankful.

My tongue is really suffering as a result of my lingual braces, what can I do about it?

December 14th, 2011
Q.

Mr Hutchinson, I had lingual braces fitted just over a week ago (stb ones i think- the fittings), they have a big clasp around the second to back teeth. anyway my tongue feels really cramped and I keep having to find ways of relaxing it for ten minutes like leaning forwards and letting it flop about for a few seconds, its funny but not nice! I do have a lisp which is really quite funny but the dentist said that would go, he didn’t say anything about this though. like I said it not a nice feeling I’m due to wear these for approximately 18 months as my teeth aren’t that bad. have you heard case where this has happened before or do I just have a large tongue, if this is not the case as I hope it isn’t what can I do about it? it’s been a week and is bothering me I can’t do a full year and a half of it! thank you

Will lingual braces have any impact on my facial structure?

December 14th, 2011
Q.

I am seriously considering getting lingual braces and I am pretty much on the peripheray of my decision (hope thats spelt right). I am just suddenly worrying about how changing my teeth with this treatment will affect my facial structure. I am also to have two teeth extracted to make space and that worries me a little. Could you tell me if this treatment is going to give me horrible hollow cheeks or something of if my mind is just dreaming up all the negatives? Thank you for your time. I hope you can help.

Are traditional braces the only way to close tooth gaps? Would lingual braces work?

December 12th, 2011
Q.

hello Ian. I am fifteen years old and my dentist has told me I will need a brace to close the gaps in my teeth but I do not want traintracks. I was wondering whether he has said train tracks for a reason and are this the only set of orthodontics you can have for closing gapped teeth? If not would it be possible to get lingual braces at my age and as I say would they indeed close gapped teeth the same? finally Mr Hutchinson what is the price region I am looking at when getting lingual braces as I can obviosly get traditional braces on the NHS so that wont matter it’s just, I’m not sure I can get lingual braces in the NHS??
Thanks For the help

Is it possible for teeth to be too overlapped to fit lingual braces?

December 1st, 2011
Q.

I have considered lingual braces as I need to sort out my overlapped teeth. my bottom teeth are quite severely crossed (which is something i have noticed is more common than the top teeth crossing?) and need straightening. when I say they are badly crossed, I do really mean it, to the point where I didn’t think the dentist could get any brace on there- until basically i saw a picture where someone’s were worse and still had a brace fitted. . I was wondering whether teeth could be so badly crossed whereby the dentist couldn’t get a lingual brace on as the photo i saw was of a traditional fixed brace. I would prefer a lingual brace simply for discretion. if they could get a traditional brace on then could they get a lingual on just as easy or is it not as simple as that? cheers

Aside from a traditional brace what is the best way to straighten teeth?

December 1st, 2011
Q.

Hi Mr Hutchinson::: I am planning on getting a brace and have made it clear to my orthodontist that I am not having a traditional brace. at which point he did seem somewhat miffed haha but he told me to go and research alternatives and pop back to him If i have any queries. he has given me a breif list of othrodontic treatments he offers at his practice crossed off the inman aligner as he said its not for me and that he’s not fan of it but his partner (business partner) is and thats why they have it, whilst ive outlined just a few of the others that they do as ones they do. I like the look of the Lingual braces for a good few reasons but the Damon system appeals to me in that it can be tooth coloured and often quicker than normal treatment. I havent popped back to my personal orthodontist as I’d simply rather not to be honest until I have to have the treatment. what would you say was a more favourable treatment for you to straighten medium crossed teeth (by this i mean to say they’e crossed but not severely)? thank you

What are benefits of getting lingual braces?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

I there I am looking to avoid having the horrible train track braces . my teeth are a bit crooked, I wanted to have done years ago and wish I had as I am now going to have to pay for it. I conferred with a friend about braces and he suggested lingual braces. other than the fact that they fit on the back of teeth I know very little about them. Is there anything in particluar that I should know or check out when getting lingual braces and do they offer anything other than aesthetics (Ie. are they quicker/longer, more comfortable etc) and as a reslut wuold you say that getting lingual braces is a good Idea when crooked teeth and treatment are concerned?
