I am really pleased with my brace. Could you tell me about tooth whitening afterwards though?

March 2nd, 2012
Q.

Hello Mr Darsh Patel, I have been wearing the damon brace for five months now. I have the tooth coloured ones which do look really discreet. I am really happy with them and my dentists work with them, I had them fitted in one session only 10 days after an initial appointment/assessment (would have been sooner but he wanted to make sure my mouth was in the best possible condition). I honestly cant gush enough I’m really happy with how it’s all turned out and I’m sick of horror/sob stories so I thought it worth a mention that these things work well! I just want to know about what happens after- I know I will have to have a retainer and am having a wire? but its the tooth whitening I was concerned with, will that be of extra cost or do you think it will be included because I’m worried my teeth will look more yellow when finished? thank you sir

What happens to the surface of your teeth with braces?

March 2nd, 2012
Q.

If I have braces what will happen to the surface of my teeth? Im due to have braces and have subsequently been refered to the orthodontists for an appointment to begin planning the next steps, could you please tell me what I should expect to be put through as in the steps he will recommend, I’m quite worried/nervous you see and the appointment not until another three weeks which is too long to not know? secondly and as for my initial question on what will happen to the surface of my teeth I wanted to know what happens with regards to fixing the braces in place? will I have countless months after the braces treatment ha finished and they’ve been taken off having to scrub glue off my teeth and therefore taking the enamel right down? I’d ask if lingual braces would be better but they would surely be exactly the same just on the back? cheers for you time

Would it be possible to break my treatment up, between both arches?

March 2nd, 2012
Q.

Hi Darsh Patel. I was wondering if you could give me some advice about orthodontics on my lower teeth. My to teeth have moved ever so slightly out of line, really not noticeable without taking extra attention. my lower ones however have crowded badly, I’ve heard that is quite common. I would like to have to lower ones straightened which will more than likely require a brace I’m not fussed about that but would it be ok for me to come back at a later date and perhaps have Invisalign on the top arch? would this be possible or would I have to have all the treatment all at once? I don’t want a full system on the top arch its really not necessary/worth it when compared with the alignment you see?

My daughter needs treatment for under bite. How much would it cost?

March 2nd, 2012
Q.

My daughter has her lower jaw larger than her upper as a result, her teeth are not align. She has seen a consultant orthodontist and waiting to have braces fitted on the NHS. The consultant told me that she will need to wear braces with a facial harness attached to it and my daughter needs to pull the harness in order to grow her upper jaw. However, the waiting list seems to be long, therefore if I have it done at your clinic how much does it cost? Your early response would be greatly appreciated.

Can braces help me and give me more confidence?

March 1st, 2012
Q.

I’ve always been embarrased about my teeth (when talking, smiling in photos)I’m in my 20’s and feeling more concious of this now. My lower jaw seems further back than my top, and the teeth on the lower jaw are cramped up. The teeth on my top jaw arent bad, a few chips. The main thing that bothers me is both my lower and top jaw also seem very narrow, so dont really have much of a smile. I know cosmetic dentistry isnt cheap, but is something that really bothers me and would love to have a nice smile. Just wanting advice on what would be best, if treatment would need maintaining in future and if i am at the right age to have it done or should i wait Would lingual braces help me at all? Thankyou.

What order should I have my dental work carried out?

Q.

Hi, i need a dental implant but also want a 6 month brace fitted. can you tell whether the brace would have to be fitted first to align the teeth then the dental implant fitted or would the implant be fitted first then brace? I was told my tooth wasnt strong enough to put a venner on when i spoke about having them so was worried about a brace being fitted on the tooth that needs a dental implant as it would be moved? many thanks

What would you say is the most obvious alternative to traditional braces?

January 31st, 2012
Q.

Hello, I really want braces but I dont want conventional ones. I really hate ttraintracks and all that comes with them, the speaking problems etc… Coupled with the fact that they look disgusting I just dont want them. I have seen a lot of alternatives but have noticed that different dentists/orthodontists/specialists all have different opinions on each, for example I have heard bad things of the inman aligner, saying it isnt an exact science and all this. givene these suggestions what would you say is the most obvious alternative to traditiona braces? thanks

Would I be suitable for Invisalign and would I need teeth pulled?

January 31st, 2012
Q.

I have relatively, in my opinion, relatively straight teeth and have always looked after them, as a result i have no issues with gum disease/bleeding when i brush etc (I was told tis was vital when getting braces). The only problem are my protruding two front buck teeth. Given the circumstances of no more space, could my two font teeth be pushed back with invisalign? Or would I have to pull teeth out to create space, secondly to this would it be harder for me to clean my teeth, making me more likely to get a gum disease or something? tah

I have wonky teeth, but at 16 in full time education why do I have to pay £1900?

January 31st, 2012
Q.

My teeth at the bottom and the top are wonky. When I went to an orthodontist he had said Braces would cost £1900, even though im 16 years old and still in full time education. He had also said that it was classed as cosmetic surgery, even though I had been promised braces to help this problem when I was 9. My wisdom teeth have started growing and there isnt enough room, which is pushing my teeth and making them more wonky. Is there any other procedures that could help my teeth straighten out without high costs?
