Q.
I have spent much of the last week looking on sites about the different braces available and I am pretty sure that lingual braces are just about the right ones for me. I have small gaps and there is also the issue of an overbite that needs to be fixed. Is there a rough price that you can tell me for this treatment and the issues I have and whether it is indeed suitable?

A.
Lingual braces vary considerably depending on whether just the front teeth need to be straightened or the whole lot, but in general they start from around 2200.
With the lingual braces there is a period of adjustment where the tongue has to get used to the presence of the braces and your speech may be impaired for the first few weeks. Some people find this harder to get used to than others, and some don’t have any issues at all.
If your overbite ie. the vertical overlap the top and bottom front teeth is increased then there may be a tendency for you to bite the brackets off, and we would then need to open the bite slightly in order to prevent this happening.
Obviously, without seeing you in person it is hard to gauge exactly which factors would effect you most, but hope that this proves at least of some use,
Kind regards,
