Can I swap from stb lingual braces to incognito?

Q.
Hi Darsh I had lingual braces fitted ages ago. about five/six months now and I don’t particularly like them as I haven’t got used to them. my tongue still feels like it has no room and i thought I would be used to this b now but no. I still have about a year or slightly more to wear them. I was wondering if i could change my treatment in conjuction with my treatment plan or with the minimum change to it? I wuold like to try the incognito as they look slightly less obtrusive. wouold this be possible or would it require starting all over again? thanks for your time Dr 🙂

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are not getting on with your current lingual braces!

It is possible to change to the incognito appliance which is my particular favourite.

You would not start over again but continue your new brace treatment from where your old brace has got to. However you should bear in mind that it take approx 6 weeks to make the brace form having imprints done of your teeth. As well as this you would need to wear a plastic retainer to hold onto the good changes that have been achieved so far.

You will need to weigh up all these against haveing new incognito braces done, but in my opinion they are the most confortable when carried out by an experienced incognito clinican!

Good luck and hope this helps you decide.
