Can I Have Lingual Braces Before My Maxillofacial Surgery Instead Of Fixed Braces?

Q.
Hi Dr Qureshi. I hope you can help me with my question as I would like clarity on my subject. I have had Maxillofacial surgery about 9 years 8 years ago, I am 28 now and am having to go through the treatment again as I have a bad bite, so my jaw is still slightly to one side, and the bite is not correct. I hate having to have braces again but I wanted to ask; can the orthodontist use lingual braces instead of the regular ones before the surgery, as I do not like the idea of having braces on the front of my teeth again? Many thanks. I thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing your reply.

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. It will depend on whether you are a suitable candidate for this type of treatment, without seeing you in person I cannot answer you as accurately as you would like. Speak to your dentist/orthodontist about this and see if it’s a possibility. I hope this works for you. Best wishes. Dr Saba Qureshi.
