Hello Dr Qureshi, I have 6 months smile braces on my teeth. I would like to know if I had the lingual braces, would I get a nicer looking smile? I want the “hollywood” smile. I also do not have any problems with my bite. I don’t feel any pressure or pain, so I feel like the teeth are not really moving much. I sometimes feel if I had the traditional braces I would end up with a better looking smile, is this true? I have the impression traditional braces are more stronger and do a better job, because they cause more pain and I have seen people after they have them and their smile is really beautiful. Hi, thank you for writing in. Both systems should achieve a similar look if handled by an experienced orthodontic technician. The only real difference being the cost and difficulty of applying lingual braces. The main advantage of a lingual brace system is not seeing the brace device whilst it’s working. The 6 months smile device is designed to cause less pain whilst moving the teeth into place. I hope that helps you with your questions.
